User Agreement

Backpack (for parents) is an online tool for parents/guardians to access student information and conveniently make decisions regarding their child(ren)'s educational experience. By creating a Backpack user account, parents/guardians agree to abide by and support the terms of use and user expectations set forth below.

User Expectations

The School District of Greenville County supports access by students and parents/guardians to informational resources that will improve participation in a child's education and improve communication between students, parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators. Access to the Backpack is a free service offered to all current parents/guardians of District students and eligible students. However, access to the Backpack site is a privilege and not a right.

parents/guardians are required to adhere to the following guidelines when accessing Backpack:

  1. Agree to act in a responsible, ethical, and legal manner and not alter, modify, or misuse any content contained in Backpack. The District proprietary information contained in Backpack is owned and operated by the District and shall never be used in a manner to indicate otherwise.
  2. Do not attempt to harm or destroy the school or the District's data and/or networks.
  3. Do not share their account password or allow anyone who does not have educational authority for that student.
  4. Do not attempt to access the information of any other student.
  5. Do not use Backpack or any District network for any illegal activity, including the violation of Federal or State Data Privacy laws.
  6. Notify the student's school or the District immediately upon identification of a security problem within Backpack.

The District reserves the right to discontinue the use of Backpack at any time. The District also reserves the right to add, modify, or delete functions within the Backpack site at any time.

Limitation of School District Liability

The District will use reasonable measures to protect information from unauthorized viewing or access of Backpack. The District is not liable for any unauthorized use of Backpack. parents/guardians who use the Backpack site understand that their account activity may be accessed or viewed by District staff. parents/guardians agree to be bound by all terms included in this User Agreement. Parents/guardians agree to release the District from any and all liability for damages arising out of unauthorized access or use of their or their student's Backpack account.

How does this work?
What is a Backpack for parents account?

A Backpack for parents account provides parents, guardians, or contacts with a central place to sign in to do the following:

  1. View their student's information including demographics, attendance, classes, grades, lunch balances, and test scores
  2. Apply or register their student to Special Focus schools and programs (Fine Arts Center, Career Centers, etc.)
  3. Receive alerts and notifications regarding their students
  4. View their student's school and contact information
  5. Manage parent and contact information for their students

Simply sign up for a Backpack account, confirm your email by clicking the link in the email that will get sent to you. Then sign in.
